亨德里克斯在這一類的評選中稱冠的頻率或許已經(jīng)及得上成龍贏得“XX模范市民”獎的頻率，但這回，他得到的不僅是樂評人和樂迷的贊賞，還有同行的肯定。TheWho樂隊的吉他手彼得·湯杉德(PeteTownshend)毫無保留地表達了他對亨德里克斯的欣賞。
吉米：能量與深度兼具
“他令電吉他變得優(yōu)美，”湯杉德說。他回憶起亨德里克斯的現(xiàn)場表演時，用“能量與深度兼具”來形容這位反彈吉他(與大部分吉他手不同，亨德里克斯右手按指板，左手撥弦)的大師。他還記得自己有一次與埃力·克萊普頓(EricClapton)一起去聽亨德里克斯的現(xiàn)場表演時，被大師的演奏震撼得喘不過氣，兩人不禁將手握在一起。亨德里克斯的音樂不但在搖滾界影響深遠，還對像邁爾斯·戴維斯(MilesDavis)這樣的跨樂種高手產(chǎn)生了許多啟發(fā)。
杜恩：詩意的即興合奏
排在第二位的是AllmanBrothers樂團中的杜恩·奧曼(DuaneAllman)，《滾石》用“詩意的即興合奏”來形容這支樂團。AllmanBrothers是杜恩與他的弟弟格雷戈于1969年成立的。
B.B.King：像女人一樣哭泣
